I think everyone can agree that a party is not complete without music. That wouldn't really be a party now, would it?
It was my birthday this past week (woohoo!), plus my university hosted a giant K-pop party recently. These two events got me wondering what the best Asian party songs were, so I went through and picked out 10 songs that I think are needed at any party to get people excited and dancing.
Here are 10 Asian songs you need to play at your next party:
It's so hard not to dance to this song. But....I could probably say that about all of these songs, couldn't I? These girls' voices are unique, mixed with a fun beat and diverse melodies. A must!
If you read my post about what people don't know about K-pop, you'll remember NCT as having members from all sorts of countries. At first listen, I will admit this song is quite strange. But after a while you'll be craving to listen to it! "If you're happy and you know it clap your hands, yo." Don't be turned away by knowing this is part of the lyrics....you'll be surprised.
Another one that's hard for me not to dance to. The chorus is...well, a party XD Then there's the oriental melody and voice at the end, tying the whole thing together to get this awesome and unique song.
Is seven your lucky number? Even if it's not, this Chinese song will be a great addition to any party. It's upbeat but also makes you want to get down and groove. Use your senses and dance to this song!
Do you feel like you're "salty" often? Don't get salty, baby! Kanto is a Korean hip hop artist with this super fun upbeat song. I mean come on, it's got trumpets. What's better than trumpets?
Okay. I've seen this song performed live twice, and both times were a blast! It's the ultimate hype song to get people up and dancing. The chorus is unexpected from what the song sounds like at the beginning.
Song Tung M-TP is HUUGE in Vietnam. He usually has more chill songs, but this one is enough to be added to a party playlist. Even then, chill songs can get people up and dancing too! The title roughly translates to "the rain passed by".
Confession time, this was my favorite party song of 2019. This is the DEFINITION of party song, and if you don't play it some time to dance to and get hype then you're missing out. In the chorus they're saying "Let me drop the 음악 (eumak)." Eumak is the Korean word for music. Fitting for a party, yeah?
I'd say this is what people think of when they hear the word K-pop and don't know anything about it....but that doesn't mean it's not good! If you watch the music video, you can see the iconic shuffle dance with its own spin put to this song, which is fun and easy to learn.
This is a must watch music video. The band playing with the kids is adorable, and the song is perfect for a pool party like it's showing. I honestly don't know what "samama" means, I've looked it up and even asked some Japanese speaking friends....but it's a mystery! Hmmmm.
There will definitely be a part two to this, because there are SO many more good party songs that come from Asia. Stick around LIS'n to discover all sorts of Asian music, and definitely add the songs in this post to your party playlist!
